I was in the military, in the RAF as a helicopter crewman on Chinook helicopters. I did 6 tours of Afghanistan there in my final 4 years. One of our main roles was casualty evacuation from the battlefield, so picking up our dead and injured at the scene of the incident and removing them to hospital. I decided to leave as I was about a 9.5 out of 10 stressed and angry the whole time. 

I worked offshore for a couple of years after and still found that 2 years later I was still just as stressed and angry. I decided to do something about it. I decided to walk a mile for every member of British Armed Service personnel to have died in Afghanistan since 2001, 444 miles at the time all around the UK with 100kgs on my back (220 lb or 15.7 stone). My objective was to destroy my anger and stress. I did this and destroyed everything else in my life too, taking a career break. I ended up with low mood, or what the doctor called depression that he wanted to put me on pills for. 

I decided not to take the pills and eventually found The Thrive Programme which lasted 6 sessions. By the 3rd I no longer had low mood or depression and it was at this point that I dropped not only the anger I felt from the military but from 23 years of beating myself up. 

It was then I decided, despite being able to return to a very lucrative offshore career at the time, that I have to help others to free themselves and learn how to Thrive. When I take people through, not only do their lives change, but their children’s and family’s lives change too. 

It’s not like anything else….do yourself a favour, exercise your right to choose to live the best life you possibly could, learn how to Thrive!
